Conservative group targets Michigan Senate race in ad spend

(The Center Square) – A conservative group is launching a new advertising campaign in Michigan's U.S. Senate race, backing Republican Mike Rogers as one of its top candidates for the 2026 election.

AFP Action made the announcement this week that it is investing $5.6 million in advertising across seven competitive U.S. Senate battleground states, including Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Alaska, Montana and Iowa.

The group’s Michigan ad, titled “Workhorse,” portrays Rogers as a candidate focused on cutting government spending, reducing regulations and lowering taxes.

The campaign will run on digital and streaming platforms and is aimed at both persuadable swing voters and Republican base voters, according to AFP Action.

“This election comes down to two paths. One leads to higher taxes, more government, and less freedom. The other leads to more choices, more opportunity, and more freedom,” said Nathan Nascimento, the executive director at AFP Action. “Our candidates are the ones leading on that second path—and we know it's working, because we're moving voters toward them every day at the doors. Given the choice between more government and more freedom, voters are choosing freedom.”

The organization said this advertising campaign builds on its other grassroots efforts, including door knocking across those same seven battleground states.

Rogers is the Republican nominee for Michigan's open U.S. Senate seat and will face Democrat Abdul El-Sayed in November.
