(The Center Square) – On Wednesday evening, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will deliver her eighth and final State of the State address.

The term-locked governor is expected to reflect on her past two terms, push for legislative priorities proposed in her executive budget proposal, and highlight wins from the past year.

According to Whitmer’s office, the Democrat will focus specifically on issues like creating jobs, lowering costs, continuing record investments in education and literacy, building housing, and more.

She will deliver the speech in the Michigan House Chambers in front of a joint session of the Michigan House of Representatives and the Michigan Senate.

The 2026 State of the State will be livestreamed at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening. You can view it on local Michigan news channels or online.

Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt, R-Van Buren, will give the Republican response, which will also be available to view online.

Nesbitt also gave the response in 2023 and 2024. He is currently running for governor.
