DAVIS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec 18, 2025--

Cat Tales Feline Health Center (CTFHC), Davis’s first and only feline-exclusive veterinary practice, proudly marks its one-year anniversary this month—celebrating a year defined by innovation in feline healthcare, meaningful community impact, and industry-leading achievements.

Founded in December 2024, Cat Tales was intentionally designed from the ground up to meet the unique medical, behavioral, and emotional needs of cats. Every detail—from the floor plan and exam-room layout to the handling techniques and medical protocols—was thoughtfully crafted to create a calm, cat-friendly experience for patients and their families.

“From day one, our mission was to transform how veterinary care feels for cats,” said co-founder Dr. Julie Cole. “We wanted a space where cats are understood, respected, and cared for in ways that honor their unique nature.”

Over 60 Shelter Cats Adopted Through the Tabby Tea Cat Lounge and Adoption Center

A distinctive feature of CTFHC is the Tabby Tea Cat Lounge, an inviting in-clinic space where adoptable cats from the Yolo County Animal Shelter can relax, socialize, and meet potential adopters. In its inaugural year, the lounge helped more than 60 cats find loving, permanent homes.

“Partnering with Yolo County Shelter has allowed us to make a tangible difference for local cats who need a second chance,” said co-founder Dr. Chris “Shac” Shacoski. “Watching so many cats transition from shelter life to safe, happy homes has been one of the most rewarding parts of our first year.”

First Fear Free ® Certified Veterinary Practice in Yolo County

Cat Tales Feline Health Center also announces its newest achievement: becoming the first veterinary practice in Yolo County to earn Fear Free Certified Veterinary Practice status.

Founded in 2016 by renowned veterinarian Dr. Marty Becker, the Fear Free program is dedicated to preventing and alleviating fear, anxiety, and stress (FAS) in pets. This elite certification acknowledges fully integrated Fear Free protocols across the hospital’s operations—from patient handling and hospitalization to anesthesia, dentistry, and client communication.

“Fear Free isn’t an add-on for us—it’s part of our identity,” said Dr. Cole. “Before we ever opened our doors, every member of our team completed the Fear Free Veterinary Professionals Certification program. It’s our use of Fear Free, cat-specific practices that transforms the experience for our patients.”
