Nevada's Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak on Thursday vetoed a bill that would have pledged the state’s Electoral College votes to the presidential candidate who wins the national popular vote.

The Hill reports the legislation, approved by the state's Senate last week would have added Nevada to the National Popular Vote interstate compact which is being pushed almost exclusively in Democratic-controlled states, where Dems are upset over President Trump’s election in 2016 by winning the Electoral College.

Sisolak said he was vetoing the bill because the compact “could diminish the role of smaller states” in national electoral contests.
